Project Overview - Before & After
The High-End Hippie (HEH), founded by Amy Hamilton, is a sustainable hair care brand offering salon-quality products with a strong focus on environmental responsibility. Rooted in values of water conservation, mindful resource use, and cruelty-free practices, HEH sought a website refresh to modernize its online presence. The goal was to preserve the brand’s identity while enhancing navigation, improving the user experience, and better showcasing its commitment to sustainability.
The Redesign
HEH faced several challenges with their outdated website:
- The existing theme had limited functionality and lacked compatibility with modern apps, restricting the site's performance and usability.
- Branding was inconsistent, featuring a mix of old and new imagery that diluted the brand’s identity.
- Key information, such as FAQs and referral programs, was difficult for users to find because it was buried within the navigation.
- Custom-coded sections were not only time-intensive to update but also lacked the flexibility needed for scalability.
- The homepage lacked visual and functional impact, missing opportunities to effectively showcase HEH’s mission and unique features.
An Engaging Homepage
The homepage was revitalized with a bold lifestyle image paired with HEH's mission statement, creating a compelling first impression. The layout was reorganized to prominently feature customer reviews, the "Why HEH" section, and an interactive Before & After slider that highlights the products' effectiveness. An updated quiz experience was seamlessly integrated, offering tailored designs for both desktop and mobile users. Custom HEH icons and branding assets were repurposed throughout the homepage to reinforce the brand identity, while outdated product imagery was replaced with fresh visuals showcasing the new, modern packaging.

Revamping the Navigation
To enhance the customer journey, the website’s navigation was refreshed with clear, intuitive headers. The Shop menu was revamped into a dropdown filter, allowing users to easily browse by hair type. A transparent menu was introduced to keep the focus on the imagery and mission statement. Essential links: Contact, Wholesale, Referral, and FAQ were consolidated into a dedicated section above the footer for better accessibility, while the footer itself was simplified to include only social links and policy pages, resulting in a cleaner, more user-friendly design.

Enhanced Collections & Product Pages
The collection and product pages were optimized for shoppability. The collection page filters were streamlined using metafields, enabling visitors to easily filter products by hair type, price, and availability.

A quick add-to-cart button was introduced to simplify the purchasing process, while product pages were redesigned with collapsible sections for descriptions, ingredients, and FAQs, presenting information in an organized, user-friendly format.
To increase convenience and support conversion, a sticky add-to-cart button was added, allowing users to add items without scrolling. Additionally, product recommendations were integrated through the Search & Discovery app, dynamically serving complementary items to customers as they browse.

Several key pages were updated to improve functionality and user engagement.
The Contact Us and Wholesale Application pages were revamped to include dynamic contact forms, replacing outdated static email links. The Referral page was modernized using the Bloop app, which became fully functional with the upgraded theme. A brand-new FAQ page was introduced, featuring easy-to-navigate accordion menus and an integrated contact form for quick assistance.
The Sustainability page was refreshed with resized icons, a clearer layout, and contextual links to the Tree Certification program, enhancing the presentation of HEH's environmental initiatives. Lastly, the Our Roots page was completely rebuilt to narrate the brand's story through clean, visually appealing sections, replacing outdated branding imagery.

Improved Apps and Tools
To streamline operations and enhance the user experience, several app integrations were implemented. The S: Store Locator app replaced a custom-coded page with an interactive map, improving usability. The Judge.me review widget was installed to automate testimonial management, saving time while maintaining consistency with HEH's branding. The Instafeed app was activated to showcase HEH’s Instagram posts directly on the homepage, creating a dynamic and engaging experience for visitors. Additionally, the cart was updated to a modern drawer style, providing a more intuitive shopping experience, and branded elements, such as the logo and water background, were incorporated into the checkout process to maintain visual consistency across the site.

The Results
The website updates resulted in several key improvements.
- The user experience was significantly enhanced through simplified navigation and a restructured layout, making it easier for customers to access important pages like FAQ and Sustainability.
- Branding was strengthened by ensuring consistent use of updated icons, imagery, and colour schemes throughout the site, reinforcing HEH’s identity.
- Interactive features such as the Before & After slider and quiz engage customers, creating a dynamic shopping experience.
- By replacing custom-coded elements with app integrations, manual updates were reduced, saving time and resources.
- Updates to the collection and product pages, cart, and checkout optimized the conversion funnel, making the path to purchase smoother and more efficient.
Overall, The High-End Hippie’s website transformation successfully balanced preserving the brand’s identity with modernizing its functionality. The updated theme and reimagined design created a polished, user-friendly experience while staying true to HEH’s mission of sustainability and high-quality care.
